Its a polymer material. This is the most widely used 3D printing material owing to its ease of manufacturing. It comes in a variety of colours, It is best suited for prototypes, toys, general products and some functional parts. It can made from renewable resources such as sugarcane, cornstarch, potato, soy.

Specifications

  • Printing/nozzle temperature: 180°C – 230°C

  • Print bed temperature: 20°C – 60°C (but not needed)

Benefits

  • Some type of PLA has rubbery finish

  • Easy to print since it has low warping

  • Can be printed on a cold surface

  • Print with sharper corners & features compared to ABS material

Limitations

  • Less sturdy

  • Absorbs moisture

  • Slightly brittle

  • Poor heat resistance
