Poly-Ethylene Terephthalate Glycol

1 min read

It is a thermoplastic polymer. It is similar to usual PET bottles except that Glycol is added to the polymer to get different properties. It is good for snap-fit applications. It has advantages of both ABS & PLA.

Specifications

  • Printing/nozzle temperature: 220°C – 250°C

  • Print bed temperature: 50°C – 75°C

Benefits

  • Stronger & temperature resistant like ABS, easier to print like PLA

  • Shrinkage/warping is minimal

  • Less brittle, clearer and easier to use than PET

  • Durable, impact-resistant

  • Can be sterilized (food grade) and recyclable

  • Excellent layer adhesion

Limitations

  • Weakened by UV light

  • Prone to scratching

  • Relatively less tested with parameters compared to other older materials

  • Susceptible to moisture so has to be kept dry
